The "Switch settings" allows you to configure the ports of the unit and the switching related features.
Switch settings are divided into the following categories:
Network ports
The following 3 ports are available at the Quanta 5 unit:
- ge0 - external copper Gigabit Ethernet port 1000BASE-T (IEEE 802.1ab).
- radio - internal radio interface of the device.
- mgmt - internal interface for the device management.
Network port "ge0" has the following configurable parameters:
- Status - may be enabled or disabled.
- Duplex - by default the duplex mode is detected automatically, but you can set it manually.
- Description - some arbitrary text description.
VLAN based switching
VLAN based switching allows to create list of allowed VLANs and their handling on the unit switch plane. Each entry of list establishes the relationship between VLAN IDs and ports modes.
NOTE
In case the "VLAN based switching" is enabled, only untagged traffic will be transmitted through the unit ports in such configuration.
In case the "VLAN based switching" is disabled, tagged and untagged traffic will be transmitted through the unit ports.
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
VLAN ID | VLAN tag in range from 1 to 4095. May be set as range and list, examples:
|
Description | Arbitrary text description. |
Priority | Allows to set the priority of a specific VLAN according to 802.1p ranging from 0 to 7, where 0 - the lowest priority level, 7 - the highest. There are eight priority queues. |
Port mode | Port mode should be set for each of network ports. Mode determines the way which VLAN tagged network packets will be handled by switch. There are three ports modes:
NOTE In order to allow both tagged and untagged traffic to pass the "Untagged" mode should be configured on selected VLAN. There can be maximum one VLAN ID for each port in "Untagged" mode. |
Click on "Add VLAN" to add a new entry in the switching list, you will see the form.
In this form you should enter VLAN ID as one or a list of values divided by space, intervals like "100-200" also can be defined. Port mode defined by the next buttons:
- A - access mode.
- U - untagged mode.
- T - tagged mode.
- If nothing is selected the port mode will be set to "Off" mode.
Connectivity matrix
The matrix allows to configure connectivity between the following unit's network ports:
- ge0 - external GigabitEthernet port;
- radio - internal radio interface of the device;
- mgmt - internal interface for the device management.
